ISFED: By-Elections Orderly, ‘For the Most Part’
Voting process in Georgia’s by-elections “was for the most part held without major violations,” the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED) reported in its assessments of 8pm.
The watchdog, however, noted that there was tense atmosphere in Zugdidi and Marneuli, which saw several scuffles throughout the day, followed by temporary interruptions of the voting process.
ISFED also documented the cases of obstructing the work of election monitors, vote-buying, illegal campaigning, violations of voting secrecy and presence of unauthorized persons at polling stations.
The organization said it filed a total of 84 complaints, 46 at precinct and 38 at district commissions.
