Giga Nikoleishvili has been appointed as the Deputy Head of the State Security Service, the country’s domestic counterintelligence agency.
In 2017-2019, Nikoleishvili chaired the Security Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; in 2016-2017, he was the Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi.
Earlier this week the Georgian government also named Grigol Liluashvili as new Head of the State Security Service, replacing Vakhtang Gomelauri who became the Interior Minister.
