U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Meets Georgian Officials in Tbilisi

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Caucasus and Eastern Europe, George Kent, who is visiting Tbilisi on October 29-31, met with Georgian officials today.

According to the Georgian Prime Minister’s press office, at the meeting Giorgi Gakharia and George Kent spoke of “the key directions of the U.S.-Georgia strategic partnership, and a wide spectrum of bilateral cooperation.”

The parties also focused on “grave” security and humanitarian situation in Georgia’s occupied regions, and the recent developments along the occupation line.

As part of his visit, George Kent also met with Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze. At the meeting, the parties spoke of the ongoing electoral and judiciary reforms in the country, as well as the selection of supreme court judges.
