Irakli Chikovani Assumes Newly Introduced PM Spokesperson’s Position
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia announced at government meeting on November 21 that Irakli Chikovani, his advisor for international affairs, will assume newly introduced position of PM’s spokesperson.
Introducing the new position, PM Gakharia said it would ensure his administration’s “fast and effective communication” with citizens and media.
Chikovani, 39, who has been serving as PM’s advisor since December 2018, will hold both positions. Earlier in 2012-2016, Chikovani was the ruling Georgian Dream party member in the Parliament.
Earlier, from 2010 to 2014, Chikovani was Secretary General of Free Democrats’ Party. From January 2007 to July 2009 Chikovani served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN.
