Q3’19 FDI USD 417.3 mln: Geostat
Foreign direct investment in Georgia reached USD 417.3 million in the third quarter of 2019, which is 13.7% increase compared to the same period of last year, according to the preliminary data released by the National Statistics Office, Geostat, on December 9.
The financial sector received the largest share of FDI in the third quarter of 2019 – USD 96 million, followed by manufacturing – USD 49.3 million; hotels and restaurants – USD 45.7 million; construction – USD 43.4 million; energy – USD 39.7 million; real estate – USD 30.1 million; mining – USD 17.5 million; transport – USD 11.2 million; health and social work – USD 11.2 million; communications – USD 8.1 million; agriculture, fishing – USD 5.4 million; other sectors – USD 59.8 million.
In the third quarter of 2019, highest amount of the FDI came from the United Kingdom – USD 78.4 million. The companies registered in the Netherlands and Turkey came next with USD 68.3 million and USD 43.1 million, respectively. They are followed by China – USD 30.1 million; the United States – USD 25.1 million; Japan – USD 16.2 million; Panama – USD 15.7 million; Russia – USD 15.1 million; Denmark – USD 14.7 million; Czech republic – USD 13.1 million; USD 97.6 million was received from other countries.
