Abkhaz Authorities Seize Weapons Cache in Sokhumi
Moscow-backed Abkhaz authorities have reported that they seized a large cache of weapons and ammunition in a raid conducted in Sokhumi, occupied region’s capital, on May 11.
Seized arms supplies included hand and anti-armor grenades, pistols, assault rifles, tactical vests, various explosives and several thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Aslan Bzhania, Moscow-backed leader of the region, told Abkhaz TV that, due to the substantial amount of weapons retrieved, he suspected “people in uniform” – military or security servicemen – to be involved in maintaining a secret stockpile.
