New Health Minister Appointed
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili today tapped Deputy Defense Minister Zurab Azarashvili as new Health Minister, replacing Ekaterine Tikaradze who resigned on December 9 for unspecified reasons.
Azarashvili has served as the Deputy Defense Minister since February 2021. Before that, since April 2020 he worked as the general director of STC Delta, Georgia’s state arms manufacturer operating under the Defense Ministry. In 2014-2020 he was the general director of Tbilaviamsheni, an aircraft factory in Tbilisi.
He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Business Administration from the European School of Management in Tbilisi. Throughout his career, Azarashvili has worked at several banks in Georgia, including at the Cartu Bank, established by Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said the freshly appointed Health Minister has extensive experience in finances and “is a strong manager.”
