Weekly COVID Update: June 20-26

During June 20-26, Georgian authorities reported 1,058 new cases of COVID-19, as well as 646 recoveries, and 2 fatalities.

Out of the 1,058 cases, 770 were reported in Tbilisi, followed by Imereti β€” 73 cases, Adjara β€” 62, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti β€” 52, Kakheti β€” 25, Guria β€” 24, Kvemo Kartli β€” 22, Mtskheta-Mtianeti β€” 14, Shida Kartli β€” 9, Samtskhe-Javakheti β€” 6, and Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti β€” 1.

According to the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, the positivity rate for the 7-day testing period was 1.67%. Omicron B.A.2 is the dominant strain in the country.

As of June 26, Georgia (excluding the occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali/South Ossetia) had reported 1,660,429 cases of COVID-19 in total, among them 1,642,476 recoveries and 16,841 deaths.
