Georgia Is Ready to Let the USA Use Its Military Bases

President Shevardnadze agrees to let the USA use Georgia’s military bases if such official request is made, Defense Minister of Georgia Davit Tevzadze stated.

Since the USgovernment made a decision about possible attacks on the terrorists the Deputy Defense Minister of Georgia announced that in case of necessity Georgia is ready to offer its military bases to the USA. The statement was officially confirmed today. 

Declarations of the Geogian officials caused anxiety in Russian media. Liberal “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” writes today that Georgia defaulted on its earlier declarations that the current or former Russian military bases would not be used for deployment of the NATO troops.
