Georgian Ambassador in Russia Blames Moscow for Playing Double Standard

Ambassador of Georgian to the Russian federation Zurab Abashidze accuses Moscow for using double standard in Abkhaz and Chechen issues. While fighting Chechen separatists, Russia listens to Abkhaz separatists, said Ambassador in his interview to “Echo of Moscow” radio. Abashidze expressed hope that Russia would follow wise policy and will not support Abkhaz separatist regime.

It is remarkable that Russian mass media sources constantly distribute statements of Abkhazian de facto government against Georgian side. Anti Georgian attitude is dominating in the information published by Russian news agencies. These are samples of the headlines form the Russian news services: “Georgian Aviation is Bombing Abkhaz Villages” (Interfax); “Shevardnadze is Trying to Unify Abkhazia with Chechnya” (strana.ru).
