Shevardnadze Visits Armenia
President Eduard Shevardnadze accompanied by five ministers and other official representatives visits Armenia today.
President Shevardnadze noted in his radio inteview on October 22, that issues of regional security will be the priority of his talks with Armenian counterpart, Robert Kocharian.However, the Ministers of Finance, Justice, Economy and Energy, as well as several MPs are likely to touch upon other aspects of the bilateral cooperation and partnership.
Armenian sources note that President Kocharian will also raise question on persons of Armenian ethnicity killed in recent armed clashes in Georgia’s breakaway provice of Abkhazia.
Georgian-Armenian relations have been tense recently as Georgian fears in Armenias pro-Russian stance were revived by the Armenian delegate Armen Rustamian who voiced his concerns on plight of Armenian ethnic minority in Georgia at European Parliamentary Assembly (PACE).
