Georgian Army Will Not Leave Kodori Gorge
(Tbilisi. November 14. Civil Georgia) – Defense Ministry of Georgia does not intend to withdraw its military units from Kodori gorge, the only part of breakaway region of Abkhazia controlled by the Georgian government, Defense Ministry states.
Russia demands Georgian army units to be withdrawn from the gorge according to the 1994 Moscow agreement.
Additional units of Georgian army were deployed in the gorge on October 11 to protect the Georgian population of Kodori in case of attacks from the Abkhazian side.
There were armed clashes between combined Georgian-Chechen guerrillas and Abkhazian military units in October on the territory of Abkhazia.
