NATO Plans Military Exercises in Georgia

(Tbilisi. January 10. Civil Georgia) – Planning conference on military exercises within the NATO and Partnership for Peace framework is being held in Georgian capital Tbilisi on January 10-12.

45 representatives from NATO and the alliance’s partner states participate in the conference. Participants are to work over the plan of maneuvers, which will be held in Georgia in Summer 2002.

Georgian Defense Ministry reports that the military exercises will take place at former Russian military base in Vaziani, near Tbilisi. Russian soldiers left the base in June 2001.
