Internal Affairs Minister Visited Pankisi Gorge
(Tbilisi, January 13, Civil Georgia) – Internal Affairs Minister Koba Narchemashvili met population of Pankisi gorge and the members of the Union of Combatants of Afghan War protesting in Alaverdi village near Pankisi gorge on January 12. Details of the meeting are unknown.
Protesters and the local population demand from law enforcers to eradicate criminal’s activity in Pankisi gorge, where kidnappers detain two people demanding ransom for their release.
Georgian State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania also visited region on January 10. He stated that law enforcers intend to pass special measures in the gorge. The Minister did not specified what kind of measures will be passed.
