Revival Faction Accuses Intelligence Chief in Conspiracy Against Abashidze
(Tbilisi, February 15, Civil Georgia) – At the assembly of displaced persons from Abkhazia on February 15 Jemal Gogitidze, Chairman of the Parliamentary faction Revival, stated that Georgian Intelligence chief Avtandil Ioseliani masterminds assassination of Head of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Aslan Abashidze.
According to the Gogitidze’s information murder of Abashidze, who is the Georgian President’s personal representative in Abkhazian conflict settlement, is planned in Sukhumi at the negotiations with the unrecognized Abkhazian authorities, or in his own flat in Batumi, capital of Adjara.
MP Jemal Gogitidze, demanded resignation of head of the Intelligence Department of Georgia as he opposes restoration of Georgia’s territorial integrity.
Avtandil Ioseliani told Kavkaz-Press news agency that “Gogitidze’s statement is false” and he will sue Gogitidze for libel.
