Russia Denies Deal with the US on Caucasus Region

(Tbilisi, February 28, Civil Georgia) – Chief of Russian Federal Security Service Nikolai Patrushev stated today that there is no deal between Russia and the United States on dividing sphere of influences in the Caucasus region.

Russian media sources reported recently that Russia and the USA agreed that Moscow would gain absolute control over the Georgian breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Osetia, in case US troops launch antiterrorist operation in Pankisi gorge.

Officials in Department of State denied reports that US intends to send Special Forces to Georgia.
