CUG Offers New Draft on Local Self-Governance Elections

(Tbilisi, March 7, Civil Georgia) – The Parliamentary faction Citizens’ Union of Georgia [CUG] proposed a new draft law on local self-governance elections.

The draft considers election of regional governors and city mayors’ and powerful local self-governance structures.

Parliamentary vice-speaker and the CUG member Gigi Tsereteli stated on March 6 that CUG will cooperate with those factions, who share these principles.

CUG is against of postponement of the self-governance elections. The faction demands elections to be held in summer 2002.
