Georgia Suspends Contract With British ITS Company

(Tbilisi, April 1, Civil Georgia) – Georgian government does not prolong contract with the British Intertek Testing Service [ITS] company, which carried out pre-shipment inspection of commodities and products imported to Georgia.

Contract with the company, which assisted Georgian customs office to check that import duty was properly declared and paid, expired on March 31.

Georgian government claims that Georgian customs office will be able to carry out pre-shipment inspection better and suspension of the contract will not cause decrease of import duty revenues.
