Russia Accuses Georgia in Undermining Situation in Abkhazia

“Some forces in Georgia try to provoke new armed conflict in Abkhazia,” Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement of April 8 says.

The statement was issued concerning attacks on Russian peacekeeping troops on April 7, deployed in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone.

Russian Foreign Ministry calls Georgia for disbanding so called guerrilla groups acting in the conflict zone.

The incident should be regarded as the official policy of Georgia, the statement says.

Georgian guerrillas deny any links to the recent attacks on Russian peacekeepers. Georgian side claims that the attacks were the provocation.
