Shevardnadze, Putin Phone Conversation

(Tbilisi, May 28, Civil Georgia) – On May 27 Georgian President Shevardnadze held telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimer Putin, Georgian State Chancellery reports.

Meeting of the US and Russian Presidents in Moscow was in the top agenda during the talks. Eduard Shevardnadze highly appreciated the fact that the Georgian issue was discussed at the meeting.

The recent visits of the Russian high officials in Georgia were also discussed during the phone conversation.

Eduard Shevardnadze expressed satisfaction concerning the talks with Russian President’s personal envoy for Abkhazian conflict settlement Valeri Loshchinin and Chairman of the Russian Federation Council [upper chamber of the Parliament] Sergei Mironov.
