Vandalism in Gori
(Tbilisi, May 23, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Last night in Gori unidentified persons attacked representative of the youth organization of the oppositional “United Democrats” party Andro Mindiahsvili, insulted him physically and carved words “Enough Gogi!” with knife on his body.
Representatives of the United Democrats party stated that the incident is connected with the head of the party’s Gori branch office Gogi Mchedlishvili.
During the visit to Gori in connection with the incident, the United Democrats’ leader Zurab Zhvania stated that the local authorities and law enforcers should assume responsibility for this act of vandalism.
Leader of the “Democrats” faction Giorgi Baramidze made a statement in the Parliament today, demanding thorough investigation and expertise of the incident by concerned authorities.
