Burjanadze Vows to Foster Election System Reform

(Tbilisi, June 3, 2003, Civil Georgia) – “I regret that you have had to come hear to declare your position, since the Parliament failed to amend the Election Code,” Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said, addressing the participants of the protest rally in front of the Parliament building today.

“I will do my best to ensure that the Parliament discusses and decides on disbanding the CEC and amending the Election Code,” said Burjanadze, expressing her support towards the participants of the rally.

Participants of the protest rally demand disbanding of the old Central Election Commission and free and fair parliamentary elections.
