Another Blast in Gori
(Tbilisi, June 21, 2003, Civil Georgia) – One more blast took place in the yard of leader of the opposition United Democrats party?s regional organization Giorgi Mchedlishvili in the central Georgian city of Gori late on June 20, causing no injuries.
Mchedlishvili accused his opponents of organizing the incidents. Hand-grenade exploded in Mchedlishvili?s yard two months ago.
The representatives of the United Democrats party today held a protest rally in Gori today demanding from the authorities to take relevant measures to avoid similar facts in future.
The Gori district law-enforcers cast doubt over Giorgi Mchedlishvili?s claims, supposing that he had masterminded the blasts himself.
This was second explosion in Gori this month. A director and two actors were injured in a blast on June 12 near the Gori Theater. It is unclear yet whether the explosion was an attack aimed at the theater staff.
