Interim President Nominates the Ministers

Interim President Nino Burjanadze nominated the ministerial candidates to replace the ones who stepped down following Eduard Shevardnadze’s resignation.

Zurab Zhvania, leader of United Democrats party, former parliamentary chairman and one of the leaders of the opposition, is nominated as the State Minister.

Giorgi Baramidze of the United Democrats party, former head of the committee on Defense and Security is nominated as the Interior Minister.

Zurab Nogaideli, who held this position in 2000-2002 is to become the Finance Minister.
