Burjanadze Held Brief Meeting with Putin
Georgian Interim President Nino Burjanadze held a brief meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Azerbaijani capital Baku on December 15. Both leaders attended the funeral of Azerbaijan?s ex-president Heidar Aliyev.
?It was very constructive, 20-minute long conversation. Mr. Putin said that Russia wants friendly relations with Georgia. We talked about Abkhazia, Pankisi gorge and discussed the economic issue. However it was very brief meeting and we could not discuss issue of Russian military bases in Georgia,? Nino Burjanadze told reporters upon her arrival from Baku.
She said that the Russian President invited her to Russia. It is expected that Nino Burjanadze will visit the Russian capital next week.
