Abkhaz, Georgian Sides Meet in Tbilisi

The Abkhazian delegation led by de facto Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba arrived in Tbilisi on February 10, to hold talks with the Georgian side regarding the security issues in the conflict zone.

Special Affairs Minister Malkhaz Kakabadze, who is in charge of Abkhaz conflict settlement represents the Georgian side at talks, which are held under the chairmanship of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN for Georgia Heidi Tagliavini.

Representatives of the Group of Friends of the UN Secretary-General on Georgia, which consists of the United States, Great Britain, Russia, France and Germany, also participate in the talks.
 
The Abkhaz delegation intended to visit Tbilisi last September; however, the visit was postponed, as the Abkhaz side said, “for lack of security measures.”
