Deputy Chief Prosecutor Resigns

Deputy General Prosecutor Gia Jikia filed his resignation following the arrest of his son in Batumi on charges of illegal possession of arms, the Georgian media reported on August 25.

Jikia?s son was arrested on August 15 after he opened fire after a quarrel with an unknown person. No one was injured.

Before taking over the deputy general prosecutor?s position, Gia Jikia served as chief military prosecutor.
