Tskhinvali May Agree on JCC in Tbilisi
Authorities in Tskhinvali are ready to consider sending their chief negotiator to a Joint Control Commission (JCC) session in Tbilisi. The agenda of the meeting must, however, be agreed on in advance.
The concession comes after a visit by the Russian chief negotiator on South Ossetia, Yuri Popov, to Tskhinvali on July 13. The South Ossetian side had earlier refused to travel to Tbilisi, citing ?security concerns.?
An informal JCC session, consisting of co-chairmen from Russia, South Ossetia and Russia?s North Ossetia, was held in Tskhinvali on July 13. The Georgian side boycotted the meeting.
