JCC Proposed for OSCE Tbilisi Office
Georgia has suggested holding a plenary session of the quadripartite Joint Control Commission (JCC) on South Ossetia at the OSCE office in Tbilisi on July 25-26.
Tskhinvali has yet to respond to the offer. The chief negotiators from the Russian, South Ossetian and North Ossetian sides, however, have reacted positively. Speaking on July 13 after talks in the breakaway region?s capital, they said they would attend, providing the meeting was ?thoroughly prepared in advance.?
South Ossetian chief negotiator Boris Chochiev said he would participate in the session in Tbilisi, if the meeting were held at the Russian Embassy.
The South Ossetian side had earlier refused to travel to Tbilisi, citing security concerns.
