New Abkhaz TV for Gali Begins

A new Abkhaz TV station for the pre-dominantly ethnic Georgian populated Gali district in the breakaway region has begun broadcasting, the Abkhaz leader?s official website reported on September 26.

The TV station will also cover the western Georgian region of Samegrelo, according to the report.

The project is considered ?strategically important? by the Abkhaz authorities in terms of integrating the ethnic Georgian population of the Gali district into the Abkhaz state.
