Saakashvili: Corruption Persists among ‘Lower Level Officials’
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said on August 26, that the corruption has shifted from the high-level governmental officials to the “lower levels.”
“I can say that the cabinet members are not corrupted. But I can not say the same about the lower level officials,” the President said while addressing the cabinet session, which was held in Batumi, the capital of Adjara Autonomous Republic.
“Despite ongoing reforms in the police there still are the cases of corruption. Just recently two policemen from the newly set up Patrol Police were arrested with corruption charges,” he added.
