Geostat: Annual Inflation 5.8% in October

Georgia’s annual inflation accelerated to 5.8% in October from 5.2% previous month, according to the state statistics office Geostat.

Annual inflation in alcoholic beverages and cigarettes was among the highest across all groups of goods and services in October at 13.5%, followed by household maintenance and equipment group (13.1%).

Prices in healthcare group were up by 11.1%, driven mostly by 27.4% y/y price hike on medicines in October.

Increased electricity bill pushed annual inflation in housing, water and energy group to 8.2% in October.

Prices in the hotel and restaurant sector rose by 6.5% y/y and food prices were up by 4.1% y/y in October. Prices in transport group were down by 1.1% y/y.

On a monthly basis consumer price rose 0.8% in August, according to Geostat.
