Sanaia’s Murder Is Not Connected to Pankisi Valley – Interior Minister States
Murder of journalist Giorgi Sanaia was not connected to the situation in Pankisi valley, Interior Affairs Minister Kakha Targamadze stated today on the special press conference regarding the results of the journalist investigation of the case.
According to the independent journalist investigation, assassination of Giorgi Sanaia could be linked to drug trafficking in Pankisi valley and possible involvement of law enforcer high officials in the crime.
Interior Affairs Minister denies the information. Targamadze vows that he will promulgate the investigation files in the foreseeable future that will prove his position.
26-year-old Giorgi Sanaia was one of the leading journalists in Georgia. He was hosting an evening news program “Night Courier” on the TV channel “Rustavi-2”. Giorgi Sanaia was found dead in his own apartment in the evening on July 26.
